Special plans for Anzac Day

Those looking to get into the spirit of Anzac Day in Brisbane on 25 April will have a variety of options.

Public transport will run on a Sunday timetable, with extra bus and train services in the early hours to get people to the dawn service.

Translink will also provide free public transport for veterans and their partners who are attending Anzac Day ceremonies.

The dawn service begins at 4.30am at the Shrine of Remembrance in Ann Street. The march begins at 10am at the corner of George and Elizabeth Sts. It will finish at about 1pm.

RSL clubs will be open from early in the morning with many hosting games of Two-Up.

The State Government has passed legislation to make Two-Up legal in RSL clubs and hotels.

The Treasury Casino will be open from 1pm although the casino will not be hosting any games of Two-Up.

Supermarkets will be closed for all day, but some bottle shops will be open for limited hours after 1pm.

Many hotels will be open from 1pm and some will be commemorating Anzac Day with 2-Up games.

Shopping centres will be closed but some larger centres such as Indooroopilly and Chermside will open their entertainment and food court areas.

Most cinemas will be open with sessions starting after 1pm.
