Street poll: Do we still need International Women’s Day?
March 8th this year marks 100 years of International Women’s Day.
With its roots in early 1900s socialism, International Women’s Day has developed into a global celebration of women.
It draws attention to the achievements of women and examines the gender-based disparity that still exists across many cultures.
We asked people in Queen Street Mall if they knew what day it was, and whether an International Women’s Day was still necessary in 2011.
